Overview

The Fraud/Security Analyst occupies a vital role within BankNewport, directly contributing to following and implementing Fraud and Physical Security mitigations.  The Analyst will obtain keen problem solving abilities, including the sense to recognize non obvious patterns in the ever changing fraud environment.  The Analyst partners closely with the Fraud Officer, Facilities Team, along with internal teams and stakeholders to support both Fraud and Security Programs. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes customer account activity through the utilization of fraud filters and research tools to ensure the Bank maintains a high level of loss avoidance and a low level of risk due to fraudulent activity within the Bank’s customer base.
  • Understands the digital delivery channels as it relates to products and services offered by the Bank and the corresponding security strengths and weaknesses, including proficient knowledge and understanding of customer authentication requirements.
  • Ability to lead and work independently to identify areas of concerns and effectively problem solve by developing alternative solutions. Assist in development and implementation of new tools or processes to improve the way the Fraud Program is structured, managed and implemented. 
  • Identify potential risks or inefficiencies and develop recommendations for improvement.  Actively seek the development of new or improved procedures or ideas, which will enhance overall Fraud loss and Physical Security of the Bank.
  • Establishes good working relationships with all areas of the Bank to assist and lead them in their Fraud and Security program development.
  • Identify new and emerging fraud trends and patterns. Requires ongoing training and networking outside the Bank.
  • Ongoing monitoring of onboarding customers by reviewing results of systems analysis of new and existing customers.
  • Review and decision Fraud Alerts that are conducted by the Bank’s fraud mitigation systems.
  • Conducting investigations, creating reports, while working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies.
  • Assists in conducting branch audits to assure the compliance of specific requirements outlined in the Bank’s Security Program.
  • Review Security training obligations for Bank’s personnel on an annual basis.
  • Works closely with the Facilities teams to monitors and reviews camera and security equipment functionality throughout the Bank’s locations.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years of experience within banking or financial background
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a foundational familiarity with proprietary banking software.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, precision, and an astute attention to detail.
  • Capability to analyze data effectively, discerning anomalies and potential issues.
  • Articulate communication skills adaptable to varied stakeholders.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.

  • Move office items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Work in an environment with low to moderate noise levels.
