COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT: This position is in a collective bargaining unit.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), Audit and Criminal Investigation Administration. The incumbent reviews and evaluates financial information located on tax returns and other accompanying documentation, identifying fraudulent activity and/or documents for referral for criminal investigation. Duties include, but are not limited to: evaluating tax returns and tax return information identified by the Modernized Integrated Tax System (MITS) Fraud Manager and OTR Functions; recommending appropriate action i.e. release refund or referral to appropriate function; accessing and researching various applications, authentication tools, fraud detections databases and other sources available to verify the information on a questionable return; reviewing correspondence for identity and return verification; contacting third parties to verify information; and preparing reports on findings that can be shared with management. Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of progressive experience performing the related duties and responsibilities such as analyzing complex tax returns or financial documents for compliance with applicable tax laws, recommending actions against tax or financial accounts and referring potential fraud violations for investigation, resolving tax or financial problems, and communicating both orally and in writing to customers and/or their representatives. Specialized Experience
Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.

SALARY REDUCTION OF REEMPLOYED ANNUITANTS:
An individual selected for employment in the District Government on or after January 1, 1980, who is receiving an annuity under any District government civilian retirement system, shall have his or her pay reduced by the amount of annuity allocable to the period of employment as a reemployed annuitant.
